CSISA training: empowering women service providers

Sangita Chaudhary (35) of Rajapur Municipality-8, Koili, Bardiya district, knew little about agricultural machinery until she participated in a three-day training program on power tiller operation, repair and maintenance organized by CSISA in Rajapur, Bardia. Before this training, she relied on manual labor and traditional methods for ploughing – but afterward, she started operating a power tiller.

The CSISA training gave Sangita the confidence to use a power tiller to plough her half-hectare puddled field independently. She overcame some initial challenges – starting the power tiller, which was heavy to manœuvre – due to her husband and family’s crucial role in supporting her. Sangita says, “At first, I felt like I couldn’t operate the machine – but my family encouraged me and now I’m happy using it.” Embracing this new technology has enabled Sangita to save valuable time and increase the farm’s productivity.
