Farming Against the Odds: Rabita Yadav’s Happy Journey as a Community Business Facilitator
In 2022, CSISA selected Ms. Rabita Yadav to work as the community business facilitator; she was hired by the Chalise Agrovet Center located in Sunpuruwa, Gadawa-04, Dang, she worked as the sales agent of the Chalise Agrovet. She went through several training courses to build her capacity in the sales and marketing of agri-inputs and improved agricultural practices. These skills helped her to conduct group sales meetings with farmers and sell agri-inputs. She helped to improve sales of the agro vet.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, agriculture input suppliers have faced challenges. They faced a reduction in sales as mobility was restricted and they could not stock up on inputs on demand without cash. In such a situation, the community business facilitators went around villages, conducted group sales meetings in farmers’ groups and sold inputs. Rabita conducted 65 group sales meetings and she served 50 smallholder farmers. In March 2023, she re-registered the agro vet under his husband’s name – the “Sajha Agro Suppliers” is in Gadawa market, Gadawa-01, Dang. CSISA facilitated to access loan NPR100,000 (USD754) from Mega Bank Limited (now merged and known as Nepal Investment Mega Bank Limited) at the subsidized interest of 7%.
Rabita is proud of her achievements- she feels challenged to compete and excel in running her agro-vet. She is thankful to CSISA for enhancing her knowledge, skills, and confidence to manage the agro-vet.
